If you’ve been looking forward to a Silver Surfer film, then you could be kept waiting because production on the flick appears to be a little uncertain.
However, simply because the former FF4 movie flunked at the box office, and the master Silver Surfer script was supposed to pick up where the former FF4 movie left off, doesn’t mean that all promise for a Silver Surfer origin story is lost, Straczynski declared recently.
The Silver Surfer is a fictitious character, a Marvel Comics superhero, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The Silver Surfer first comes out in the comic book Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966), the first of a three-issue arc fans and historians call “The Galactus Trilogy.”
Norrin Radd (the silver surfer) was a junior astronomer of the planet Zenn-La. In order to salvage his homeworld from devastation by a dreaded cosmic entity called Galactus, Norrin made a deal with the being, pledging himself to assist as its herald. Tinged in return with a humble portion of Galactus’ Power Cosmic, Norrin adopted great powers, and a silvery appearance. He produced for himself a surfboard-like craft — sculptured after a childhood illusion of his — on which he would journey at speeds beyond that of light.
Known from then on as the “Silver Surfer,” Norrin set out to wander the cosmos searching for fresh planets for Galactus to devour. When his journeys eventually took him to Earth, the “Silver Surfer” came face-to-face with the Fantastic Four, a squad of mighty superheroes that aided him to rediscover his nobility of spirit. Betraying Galactus, the “Silver Surfer” saved Earth but was chastised in return with permanent exile there.
In 2011 IGN the Silver Surfer was ranked 41st in the “Top 100 comic heroes”.
